I am old enough to remember when Sticky Notes, or what many refer to as Post-It Notes, trademarked by 3M, became a “thing” in business offices in the early 80’s. They have always been a thing of wonder and magic for the Artist in me. They were just a fun thing making you able to leave messages in the most surprising of areas.
I remember one time, on a day off from school, my Dad brought me to his Dental Practice and I sat in his back office and found a tablet of these fun, little … anomalies. I tore the top one off and there was a fresh new clean one WAITING to be used. The young artist in me took off mentally and never looked back. The next thing I knew, the door to the back office opened and my Dad came through the door to get me, was it lunchtime already?! As I got a chance to look up and finally look around, I took in a site of a huge desktop COVERED in little yellow 3×3 pieces of paper so thick that I could not see what was under them!
My Dad was less than pleased.
It didn’t matter, the “sickness” had set in. I was hooked. A portable drawing pad and you could stick them anywhere. Now, years later, I am still in love with these fascinating little pieces of blank canvas. I love them so much I have based a website on that fact and I have been known to give out little, individual cartoons to anyone who will take them. It occupies my time and others get a bright moment in their day … and THEY can stick them on their monitors, refrigerators, cork boards, and cubicles.
Like these little notes, they just “stuck” and I am glad they did, I have made A LOT of people happy with them and that is a bonus!
You try it … I dare you.
